A total number of 7 scouts, together with Andy they decided to take a more challenging route, climbed through Tiu Tang Lung (吊燈籠), the highest peak around there and they were supposed to meet us at the end point around 4:30pm. The rest of us preferred to follow our previous planned route. The route was an easy trail, heading southeast through Kau am Tso (九担粗), then swinging east towards Sam A Chung (三椏涌). The trail was pleasant, often in shade, running by a stream that leads towards Wu Kau Tang.
The view was especially great when we passed through Yan Chau Tong Marine Park (印洲塘海岸公園). We met two groups of secondary students who were likely having some field trips there. Then we passed through a belt of mangroves. Not long, we arrived at the impressive Hakka Village - Lai Chi Wo (茘枝窩). It was a remote old village that could only be accessed by hikers or by ferry. As the name suggests, the place was once famous for its lychee trees. There were well-known Feng Shui Woods, too. It was noon time, so our team settled down and enjoyed our packed lunch. We took our group photo there before we continued our hike.
The route from Lai Chi Wo to Kuk Po (谷埔) was an easy one at the beginning, though the view was not particular attractive. Until we reached the Sha Tau Kok Hoi (沙頭角海) coastal line, the view was nice, and the onshore wind helped us to refresh our mind and body. Our troop stopped at Fung Hang Village and enjoyed a bowl of doufuhua (豆腐花), a Chinese dessert to re-charge our energy. The time was around
3:00pm and we reached our destination Luk Keng (鹿頸) around 3:30pm.
It was a pleasant hike, and I think everybody should enjoy it.
